При использовании mod_rewrite выдает Not Found

Сайт переносился на локальный сервер .. права давал в ручную на папки которые указанны в админке.
Затем переименовал htaccess.txt на .htaccess.
При включении mod_rewrite  в SEO выдает
Not Found
The requested URL /article/city.html was not found on this server.
Подскажите что надо подправить?

А можно посмотреть ваш файл .htaccess?

на локальном компьютере  работает, может на какую нить папку надо права дать.

Скажите тогда плиз на какие папки и фалы надо давать права и какие в права.

Если это джумла, посмотрите в админке настройки сео. Отключите подключите, возможно там проблемка зарылась, и не забудьте обновить страничку через Ф5

Во-первых надо проверить журналы ошибок сервера, во-вторых отключить все seo-штуки.
